Golden Retrievers

The Golden Retrievers in this gallery have guided me through life and have all passed on.  This is an amazing breed and every dog below was great in their own way.

Lucky was my first Golden Retriever.  She had been found after being hit by a car and then brought into the animal hospital that my mother was working in.  She was nursed back to health by the staff and my mother thought she would be a great dog for me.  I was 6 years old!  Because we were into obedience training at the time we were able to register her with the AKC and when I was 8 years old Lucky obtained her CD title!  I was the youngest in the country at the time.  We had so much fun, although at a young age I learned what “patience” was!

HUGGY was my first “purebred” Golden Retriever.  My mother bought her for me when I was 10 years old from Meadowpond Goldens, Cherie Berger in Michigan.  I put a CD title on her when I was 14 years old.  I also showed her a few times in Junior Showmanship.  She was a great brood bitch.  She had 3 litters and was a great mommy!

DREAM is that once in a lifetime dog that (I think) everyone has at some point during their time on earth.  Dream is the dog I kept from the first litter I ever bred.  His mother was Huggy.   I started Dream in obedience very young and he received his CGC when he was just 6 months old.  Although he never had anymore titles, he could have gone far.  At that time in my life I was starting to get involved with Junior Showmanship.  I did A LOT of winning with Dream.  He loved to show off.  We made it to Westminster twice while in Junior Showmanship, the 1st time making it down to the top 3 in my group but only the top 2 go to the finals.  But, it was a great accomplishment.  We had so much fun and he was the greatest dog in the world!

HERO was our Christmas Eve baby.  She was out of my 3rd litter.  She has always been an interesting dog.  From taking after her father by spinning in circles to wagging her tail up and down instead of side to side.  She was amazing and produced 2 beautiful litters.  She was 16.5 when she died!

VELVET is the daughter of Hero and Tim (a Peterbuilt son).  She was a dark red bitch with clean coming and going movement and a beautiful easy moving gait on the go around.  She was very old fashioned looking.  She was only shown in her early years and then developed some medical issues.  Until then she was always in the ribbons.  I called Velvet “my human dog” because I knew she always knew what I was thinking and she was probably the smartest, most clever dog I have ever owned.

NICHOLAS was an amazing dog.  He was just so sweet and took care of my 2 children.  He was my “goof ball”.  His dam is the beautiful Nora, bred and owned by Janice Provenzano and his sire is Becket, 2008 GRCA WD/BOW, breeder/owner/handled!  His favorite sport was NoseWork.  He was a very happy dog, especially when someone comes to the door to greet him.
